Swimming has come to an end and I would like to share with you all the positive feedback received from our swimming teachers at this program. Students were recognised for their outstanding behaviour and willingness to learn and listen. I am so proud of our students at Forest Primary who have upheld our school values of respect and excellence and you all should be proud of your children.
Today our SRC along with our Parents and Friends held a free dress day for a donation for our Christmas raffle. I would like to thank the whole school community for their overwhelming generosity with donating raffle prizes. It is going to be an amazing Christmas raffle. Raffle books will be coming home next week.
Our school Athletics Carnival is coming up this Wednesday, this exciting event will include a free sausage sizzle for all students and their families, along with our Parents & Friends selling fruit cups at recess, and a coffee van onsite from 9am for adult purchases. Our students have been practising in their PE lessons with getting those coordination’s down pat for the all important 3-legged race. The day will begin from 9am, there will not be any times on events they will just continue to run one after the other. We would appreciate any volunteers to help make this event a success, please let us know if you are available.
What a weekend of basketball our 5/6 boys had at the Tasmanian Regional Basketball Championships coming 4th in Division 1 is a major achievement! The weekend was much more than just basketball. It was also about training together every week, teamwork, building confidence, making memories with your school mates and having fun and laughs. Big thanks to Wak, Soupy and Angela for giving up their time to make this all happen. Thanks also to Nash Ahearne for umpiring for us all weekend.
With just 4 weeks left in the school year we have many celebrations and events coming up. It’s a busy and joyful time for our school community and I thank you for your continued support and look forward to celebrating with you all.

Exploring Measurement
This term in Kindergarten, we have been diving into the world of measurement! One of our favourite activities has been exploring how tall we are. We began by measuring ourselves with measuring tapes and then got creative by making beautiful flowers to decorate our classroom home. The stem of each flower was made to match our height—making our classroom bloom with flowers as tall as us! We also explored informal measurement by using manipulatives. The children had so much fun discovering how many blocks or paddle pop sticks tall they are. This hands-on learning has helped us develop an understanding of measurement while fostering curiosity and collaboration. It's been wonderful to see the children engaged in measuring the world around them!
Have your say on Foundational Supports
Governments are working together to design and deliver additional disability supports in the community.
These additional supports are called Foundational Supports and are separate to those delivered through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) or mainstream services.
The Department of Social Services want feedback and ideas on how to design Foundational Supports for families and children aged under 9 in their care where there is a developmental concern, delay and/or disability.
Share your thoughts by:
- completing the online questionnaire or providing a submission
- adding a comment to the Ideas Wall
- joining the Tasmanian online workshop on Tuesday 19 November 7-9pm.
Respectful Relationships and Consent Education
Building Healthy Relationships from an Early Age
Forest Primary School is committed to helping students develop the skills they need to build healthy, respectful relationships from a young age.
Respectful Relationships and Consent Education at our school teaches children about:
- Understanding and respecting personal boundaries
- Identifying safe and unsafe situations
- Seeking help when needed
Families can support this learning at home by having age-appropriate conversations about respect, consent, and body autonomy.
Building respectful relationships starts early and lays the foundation for positive interactions throughout life.
The Conversation Guide has been developed by the Australian Government and is a useful resource for discussing these topics with children and young people.
If you have any questions, contact the school.
