Book Week Appreciation
What an incredible Book Week parade at Forest Primary! Our Book Week Parade was a showcase of creativity and imagination, with students amazing us all in their wonderful costumes. A huge thank you to all the parents who put in the time and effort to create such fantastic costumes and came along to watch. Together we celebrated the joy of reading and the magic of books! A special thankyou to my staff for some amazing displays in our multipurpose room representing the book week short-listed texts. A special shoutout to Margaret for just the most magical transformation in our library!
Maths Relay
Today was an exciting day at Forest Primary, as students from Prep to Year 6 participated in the much-anticipated Maths Relay event! This engaging and educational activity brought together our young learners to test their mathematical skills while enjoying some friendly competition. The Maths Relay encourages teamwork and problem-solving amongst our students. Classes were divided into teams, and each group tackled a series of math challenges that required collaboration and quick thinking. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement. We would like to thank all the parents who contributed to the success of today’s event. Your support in helping and volunteering your time makes a significant difference. We are proud of each participant for their hard work and enthusiasm, and we look forward to watching the selected students participate at the Circular Head Maths Relay which will be held here at Forest Primary next Thursday 5th September. A big thank you to Miss Pop for all your hard work to make the maths relay such a successful event.
Country Gold
Last Friday CHSSSA held the Country Gold selections afternoon where we had 25 students from grade 5/6 selected to represent Circular Head at the Country Gold Carnival. Students are to be congratulated on their inclusion in the squad. The event is a major sporting and social opportunity for Circular Head State School students. The team will be participating in the Country Gold Carnival to be held in Launceston on Thursday 19h September 2024.
Fathers Day Breakfast
We look forward to seeing all our Dads, Grandads, or someone special to your heart come along tomorrow morning and enjoy a BBQ breakfast and outdoor activities with your children.
3/4 Sports Expo
On Friday 6th September our Grade 3/4 students will join the other Circular Head State Schools to come together to participate in the Sports Expo program. Students will be participating in 3 sports over the day and had a choice from Football, Hockey, Netball, Basketball and Taekwondo. The Sports Expo program is a wonderful opportunity to try out a new sport or, alternatively, to enhance skills in a familiar sport. It is also a valuable opportunity for our students to meet, mix and mingle with students from other schools.

Thank you to Isabelle, Charlie, Judson and Rubee who proudly laid a wreath on behalf of Forest Primary at the Vietnam Veterans Day Service on August 18th in Smithton. Lest we forget.
School Satisfaction Surveys
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve. We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Forest Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making. The survey is open from Monday 26 August 2024 until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes to complete. Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/wYdpFE87hx
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact your school if you require any assistance, alternatively we invite families to come along to the school library to enjoy a hot drink and some afternoon tea to complete the survey on Tuesday 3rd September at 2pm. This is an amazing opportunity to have your voice and inform our planning at Forest Primary. Megan and staff will be available to support you with the survey if required.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.

Book Week in grade 1-2 H/P!
Our book that we focused our display board around was “Can you teach a fish to climb a tree?”
This book encouraged our students to celebrate the things that make us unique. We learnt that we can all try new things and it is okay if these things come naturally to some people and not others. We learnt that we are all different and have different skills and talents to share with the world.
Our curiosity, individuality and sense of belonging is highlighted through our amazing artwork and creativity on our tree.
Check out our AMAZING display!!! Thanks Mel G for all your help!
Please find attached our 2025 school uniform order, if families can please complete and return to the office ASAP - thank you.
LIFT - Learning in Families Together
Today’s fun activity is Balloon Games!
This activity helps your child develop physical (or gross motor) skills.
We use these important skills everyday when we run, jump skip, ride a bike, play sport, or kick a ball.
How you can help at home ?
Play this game (and others like it) lots of times, it helps your child learn and practice these skills.
#BrightLivesPositiveFuturesMake sure your child goes to school, every day
Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn and grow, and connect with their mates and teachers. It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most.
Get them excited for school
If you show a positive attitude and excitement towards school, your child will pick up on that. The most common thing we hear from students, of all ages, is that school is where they can:
» spend time with their friends and teachers
» create new and fun experiences
» find their interests
» learn new things
» open up their options – for whatever future they want (whether that’s their dream job or to travel around the world).
Share these positives with your child. Talk to your child about school. Open up a conversation with your child about what’s happening at school. It will help you to better support their interests and confidence in learning. If you show an interest in school, they’ll know that getting an education is important and valued.
Celebrate the milestones
Big and small! Celebrate milestones such as making it through a week of school. And remember: all milestones look different. If it’s a big achievement for your child, it’s important to recognise it.
Set up a time to talk to your child’s teacher or principal
If you’re struggling to get your child to school, help is available. Please talk to us at school about your situation. We’ll support you, in whatever way we can.
Know when to seek help
There is no weakness in admitting you need help. If your child has completely disengaged with school, and not attending at all, there is support to help you. In the first instance, talk to us at school. For more helpful tips, please check out the Anything can happen website.
