Science Gig
What an amazing turnout on Monday evening at the Science Gig. Our school was very well represented, and we came away with a 1st place for our Year 5 class, 2nd place for our Prep/1 Cox and an outstanding school achievement. We have displayed some of this work in our school foyer for you all to see. Please come along and check out the wonderful work done by everyone.
Bake Sale and Coin Line
Our Year 5’s have been busily working and provided the whole school with a bake sale and coin line to support the postage for the shoe boxes. They raised over $500 which was absolutely amazing.
Pre-Kinder
We have held two Pre-Kinder sessions in our Kindergarten room with Mrs Hills and Mrs Bransden. It has been wonderful to meet our new children for 2025 and their families. Families with children eligible to attend Kindergarten in 2025 are invited to come along to Pre-Kinder sessions at Forest Primary School. Our next two sessions will be held on Wednesday 21st & 28th August from 9am-10am. Pre-Kindergarten allows children to have the best start at school. By coming along to Pre-Kinder sessions you and your child will get to know the school environment. Pre-Kinder sessions include time to play and learn in the Kindergarten classroom. The sessions include fun, intentional activities designed to give your child the best opportunity to learn routines, manage their belongings and get to know other children.
Potato Olympics
Miss Pop and the Year 5 and Year 6 classes led the potato Olympics on Tuesday 6th of August. Students had created potato Olympians and profiles that are now on display in the multipurpose room for you all to enjoy. It was amazing to have an Olympian open our ceremony and speak to our students about her Olympic experience. This was a lot of fun and enjoyed by everyone.

Thankyou Forest Primary Staff
We are just so busy working hard to provide quality teaching and learning for all of our students. I thank all my staff for their hard work and dedication – no matter what their roles is to make our little school a great place to be. I would like to make a special mention to all the work that has happened in preparing for science gig, book week and gymnastics. Your work never goes unnoticed, and I am so thankful for each and everyone of you. Our school wouldn’t be great without each of you.
Megan Hills
Principal
A big thankyou to the Grade 5 and 6 students who planned and ran an amazing 2024 Potato Olympics! It was our absolute privilege to have past Olympian Heather Innes attend to talk to us and light the cauldron to open the Potato Olympics. As you can see from the smiles on both the students and potato athletes everyone had a great time swimming, sailing, running, skateboarding, playing hockey, shot putting, lawn bowling and trampolining. Congratulations to the medal winners!

LIFT - Learning in Families Together
Today’s fun activity is Wallaby Tails!
This activity helps your child develop physical (or gross motor) skills.
We use these important skills everyday when we run, jump skip, ride a bike, play sport, or kick a ball.
How you can help at home. ?
Play this game (and others like it) lots of times, it helps your child learn and practice these skills.
#BrightLivesPositiveFutures
Charli Randall - I liked the possum information. I learned that possum mostly like Gum Tree leaves.
Amber van Norden - I liked the detective because you got to figure out the clues and find Mr Pickle.
Zane Shelverton - I liked that we had to solve a mystery.
Indi-Rose Grey - I liked when he pulled out the box and there was a microscope, and he showed us how to work it.
Montie Thorp - When I got to squirt fake blood into a container to solve a mystery.
Joise-Lea Ivory - I liked when we had to solve a puzzle to see which person was guilty.
Nelly Grey - I liked that the possum was happy.
Montana Horton - I liked the Ring-Tailed Possum. It was a puppet, and I got to act out the emotions.
Ari Korpershoek - I liked the scientist that taught us about all the germs on our fingers. He was funny as well.
Ethan Howe - I liked that there was lots of fascinating facts.
Kendall Waddell-Smith - I liked that we had to solve a mystery.
Kyra Coates - I liked learning about the possum's habitat.
Joseph Heald - I liked solving the mystery. The mystery was about a principal that went missing 100 years ago.
Make sure your child goes to school, every day
Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn and grow, and connect with their mates and teachers. It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most.
Get them excited for school
If you show a positive attitude and excitement towards school, your child will pick up on that. The most common thing we hear from students, of all ages, is that school is where they can:
» spend time with their friends and teachers
» create new and fun experiences
» find their interests
» learn new things
» open up their options – for whatever future they want (whether that’s their dream job or to travel around the world).
Share these positives with your child. Talk to your child about school. Open up a conversation with your child about what’s happening at school. It will help you to better support their interests and confidence in learning. If you show an interest in school, they’ll know that getting an education is important and valued.
Celebrate the milestones
Big and small! Celebrate milestones such as making it through a week of school. And remember: all milestones look different. If it’s a big achievement for your child, it’s important to recognise it.
Set up a time to talk to your child’s teacher or principal
If you’re struggling to get your child to school, help is available. Please talk to us at school about your situation. We’ll support you, in whatever way we can.
Know when to seek help
There is no weakness in admitting you need help. If your child has completely disengaged with school, and not attending at all, there is support to help you. In the first instance, talk to us at school. For more helpful tips, please check out the Anything can happen website.
